Every county in Tennessee reported an unemployment rate at or below 5% for May, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD).
The department said 94 of the state’s 95 counties had unemployment rates below 5%, and Hardeman County in southwest Tennessee reported a rate of exactly 5%.
Wilson County had a rate of 2.7%, joining three other counties for second place behind Williamson County, with a rate of 2.6%. County rates are not adjusted for seasonal employment. Statewide, Tennessee’s unemployment rate in May was 3.5%, which is adjusted to account for seasonal employment.
June’s unemployment data will not be finalized until sometime in July.
