Wilson County is conducting a survey to guide creation of an “age-friendly†strategy. The county is asking residents to complete the survey to give opinions on how to make the local area “more age-friendly.â€
The county enrolled in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Community, which requires communities to conduct an assessment of age-friendliness.
“As we plan for the future, we are calling on our residents to let us know what they would like to see, and to help us create a successful Age-Friendly Action Plan that is built around their needs,†Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto said. “The survey will assist in the ability to make more informed decisions on resources, programs, and general community-wide needs.â€
The AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities supports the work of local, regional and state governments as they prepare for the nation’s changing demographics. Established in 2012, the Network includes towns, cities, counties and states that have made a commitment to being more livable for people of all ages, and especially older adults.
The survey’s main goal is to identify the current needs of community members and help decision-makers understand how existing and potential future policies may impact the community. The county also wants to gauge residents’ awareness of existing age-friendly programs.
Adults are encouraged to participate in the survey, which can be completed online at and printed versions are available in the Wilson County Mayor’s Office at 228 E. Main St. Rm 104 in Lebanon.
The survey may take about 20-25 minutes to complete. All feedback will remain anonymous.
