Cumberland’s women has been named the No. 1 seed in the 2025 Mid-South Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament after capturing a share of the MSC regular season championship, the league office announced Saturday.
The Phoenix and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) each finished conference play with 16 points and matching 5-0-1 records, splitting the regular-season title. The two programs met in a thrilling 3-3 draw Oct. 1 in Columbia, where Cumberland scored the equalizer in the 90th minute to force the tie.
Cumberland earned the top seed through the second conference tiebreaker, boasting a plus-17 goal differential in league matches (capped at four goals per game) compared to Lindsey Wilson’s plus-13. The title marks the third regular-season championship in program history for the Phoenix and the 20th for the Blue Raiders.
With the No. 1 seed, Cumberland received a bye and will host its conference semifinal matchup this week at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.
Elsewhere in the bracket, No. 2-seed Lindsey Wilson hosted No. 7-seed Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), No. 3-seed Cumberlands (Ky.) faced No. 6-seed Georgetown (Ky.) and No. 4-seed Campbellsville (Ky.) welcomed No. 5-seed Bethel (Tenn.).
Quarterfinal matches are scheduled for today through Friday, with semifinals set for Nov. 5-7 and the championship match Nov. 11. All games will be hosted by the higher-seeded team.
Cumberland will take on the winner of the 4-seed Campbellsville and the 5-seed Bethel in the semifinals at Lindsey Donnell Stadium.
The MSC tournament champion will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championships in November.
Martina nabs MSC Player of the Week with hat trick, four assistsAfter a massive week in front of the goal, Cumberland’s Kadisha Martina was named the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon by the league office.
In the first game of the week, Martina buried three shots in the back of the net in just over one half’s worth of minutes. She capped off a first half hat trick for the Phoenix as she put one in the back of the net in the 20th minute, then gave herself another two goals in the 78th and 80th minute.
Helping to secure both the win and their share of the MSC regular season title, Martina then assisted an eye watering four goals in the Phoenix 6-2 victory at Campbellsville.
The award is the first of this season for Martina and the first of her career.
