The reputation the Mt. Juliet Police Department has for arresting out-of-city criminals has left an impression on many people, including one woman who claimed to not realize she was in Mt. Juliet.
On Thursday, July 10, an MJPD officer was called to a potential shoplifting in progress at Tractor Supply Company on Lebanon Road. Upon arrival, the officer located a woman who allegedly was in possession of more than $1,100 in stolen merchandise and drugs.
Candis Taylor, 38, of Nashville was taken into custody and police searched her vehicle. According to police reports, “a large quantity†of methamphetamine, believed to be for resale, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, unprescribed morphine and Adderall and marijuana were discovered.
Officers also discovered more merchandise in the vehicle, and investigations are underway to determine if it was stolen.
Taylor reportedly said she didn’t realize she was in Mt. Juliet, and had she known, she wouldn’t have attempted to commit a crime in the city.
Taylor was booked into the Wilson County Jail and charged with three counts of drug possession, possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of resale and two counts of possession of a Schedule II drug for resale. She was released on a $27,000 bond the next day.
