Two individuals accused of shoplifting in separate incidents in Mt. Juliet were allegedly working together.
On Saturday, Nov. 22, MJPD officers were investigating “two suspicious vehicles,†one at the Academy Sports+Outdoors and the other at McDonald’s near I-40, believing them to be connected to a wanted person.
During the investigation, officers arrested Kristin Walker, 32, of Baxter, at the Academy Sports. According to police, she had three active warrants in Mt. Juliet for shoplifting at Target last month. Officers found $262 worth of clothing from Academy in her vehicle and reportedly found methamphetamine hidden in Walker’s clothing.
She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and four counts of theft in addition to her warrants.
Meanwhile, Tyler Ragland, 33, of Crossville, at the McDonald’s stop, was found to have an active shoplifting warrant out of Putnam County, and was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine. According to police, Ragland is also a suspect in a shoplifting at the Madison Home Depot that occurred the previous day. Tools believed to be from the Home Depot were reportedly located in Ragland’s vehicle.
He was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of methamphetamine, in addition to the Putnam County warrant and possession of stolen merchandise from the Madison Home Depot.
MJPD said the two had been working together in the alleged shoplifting and just happened to be stopped by police separately at the same time.
