The Lebanon Police Department is reintroducing bike patrol units throughout the city.
LPD’s goal is for specially trained officers to engage more closely with the community, increase visibility in high-traffic pedestrian areas such as the Downtown Square and enhance patrol coverage in the city’s parks, walking trails and special events which close off roadways.
“This is something we used to have. We’re excited for it to be back,” Zach Patton, LPD Public Information Officer, said. “Our parks are such a valuable asset to our community. [They are] used by people of all ages.”
Bike patrols are planned to be out in the city from morning through evening.
“If you happen to see them out, don’t be afraid, give them a hello,” Patton said. “They’re really excited to be out here, and we look forward to continuing our mission to protect and serve this great city we live in.”
