The long-awaited construction of the new Hartsville Pike opened Wednesday, shifting traffic patterns, and officials are hoping it will help ease congestion along Baddour Parkway in Lebanon.
Hartsville Pike, also known as State Route 141, has been closed while the Tennessee Department of Transportation worked to build a new section as part of a project to expand the road from two lanes to four.
The former Hartsville Pike has been renamed Hazelwood Pike, meaning residents will see an address change to reflect the renaming of the road.
Hazelwood Pike is still connected to Hartsville Pike, so motorists who live near there won’t have to backtrack to get onto the new road.
“TDOT has collaborated with emergency services, the U.S. Postal Service, and the City of Lebanon for several months to prepare for this change,†TDOT said in a press release.
