Born June 12, 1941, in Stamps, Arkansas, he was the eldest of eight children born to Louis Porter Sr. and Mary Porter, both now at rest.

Louis Perry Porter Jr. “Sonny,†passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born June 12, 1941, in Stamps, Arkansas, he was the eldest of eight children born to Louis Porter Sr. and Mary Porter, both now at rest.
Louis graduated from Henry Bell High School at just 16 and went on to attend Arkansas Baptist College where he nurtured a lifelong love of music and a voice many considered magical.
A man of many talents and professions, Louis began his career on the railroad and later served with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. He found his professional home in the airline industry, serving as a respected supervisor and chief with American Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Delta Airlines. He retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
Louis was known for his strength, discipline and deep kindness. He loved his family fiercely and was a steady presence in the lives of many.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph, Cynthia Ann, Linda and Marie Antoinette.
He is survived by his sisters, Martina Porter Bryant, Effie Porter Johnson and Perri Jean Porter Walker; as well as his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and generations of Porter’s who will carry on his legacy. He will be deeply missed.
Memorial services will be held at Neuble Monument Funeral Home in Lebanon Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at 11 a.m.
