MT. JULIET — While just about everyone else in Wilson County was playing big region battles, Green Hill took care of business by dispatching winless Glencliff 48-7 last Friday night on the Hill.
Kannon Burroughs passed for 248 yards and three touchdowns on 14-of-23 passing while running for 124 yards and a pair of scores for the Hawks. Luke Partin caught five passes for 112 yards. Zach Cartwright added 80 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries as Green Hill moved to 5-2 going into the fall break open date.
Green Hill got going with a 14-yard scoring pass from Burroughs to Luke Pfeiffer.
Glencliff tied the score on a 50-yard fumble return.
Nathaniel Brogden countered for the Hawks with a 2-yard score and Cartwright followed with a 20-yarder.
Burroughs fired a 19-yard scoring strike to Will Butler and a 30-yarder to Dylan Hawks as Green Hill took a 34-7 lead into halftime.
Mike Palmer opened the second half with an 86-yard kickoff return to make it 41-7. Joey Ackerly closed the scoring with a 1-yard run as the teams played with a running clock.
Following the break, Green Hill will close the regular season with Region 4-6A games against Wilson County rivals, starting with an Oct. 17 visit from Lebanon in what will be a battle for first place. The Hawks will then visit Wilson Central and Mt. Juliet.
