Trousdale County Director of Schools Dr. Clint Satterfield has announced that he will be retiring as Director of Schools effective December 31, 2025.
“I originally informed the Board of Education during my last contract that I would not seek another contract beyond 2025," Satterfield said. "I never intended to serve in this capacity beyond the age of 65, which was the age of my father, Jim B. Satterfield, the Superintendent of Schools for 24 years who died as the result of a heart attack while serving as Superintendent. There are still a lot of things I would like to do before I’m physically unable to do them."
Satterfield has served as Trousdale County director of schools for 17 years since 2008 and as head football coach for 24 years since beginning his career with Trousdale County school district in 1983.
“I’ve been very blessed to work in my hometown for my entire career and fortunate to work with a plethora of outstanding players, teachers, coaches, staff, principals, administrators, board members, and philanthropic agencies over these many years. Any success that I have been credited with is a direct result of the people I’ve been privileged to work with throughout my 42 year career,†explained Satterfield.
During Satterfield’s tenure, the school district has been rising from the No Child Left Behind Needs Improvement List to becoming a four-time Exemplary School District in 2012, 2019, 2022, and 2023 including winning the Tennessee SCORE Prize in 2013 and again in 2015 for most dramatically increasing student achievement in Tennessee. Under Satterfield’s leadership, the school district has been recognized for 13 Reward School designations, a National Blue Ribbon School, and was recently featured in 2024 in The New Teacher Project’s, “The Opportunity Makers,†for being one of the top seven schools in the nation for advancing student achievement.
The Trousdale County Board of Education is presently taking applications from interested persons inspiring to lead Trousdale County Schools. Interested persons may apply on the district’s website at > Employment > Director of Schools. The application deadline is Aug. 4, with anticipated interviews being held during the month of August and a final selection at the Board’s Regular September meeting.
