The Red Boiling Springs Lady Bulldogs have officially tipped off their 2025-26 basketball season, opening with a pair of contrasting performances that showcased both early challenges and promising potential.
The season began on the road Nov. 18, where the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Watertown to take on the Lady Tigers. Despite a determined effort, Red Boiling Springs fell 42-19 in their first outing of the year. Sophomore Zoe McDuffee led the scoring for RBS with eight points, showing her ability to create offense even against a tough Watertown defense. Junior Sidney Massengille followed with seven points while Allie Jenkins added three and Kiara Loudy chipped in a free throw.
Just 24 hours later, the Lady Bulldogs returned home and displayed a completely different level of energy and execution. In their Nov. 19 home opener, they rolled past Oak Ridge Christian with an impressive 65-22 victory, securing their first win of the season in dominant fashion.
Massengille led the way with a standout 15-point performance, setting the tone on both ends of the floor. McDuffee added 13 points of her own, bouncing back with confidence after leading the team the night before. Sophomore Rylee Bray reached double digits with 10 points while freshman Ryleigh Smith made a strong early-season statement with eight. Ali Bates and junior Jenkins each scored six points, freshman Loudy contributed four and Emma Goad rounded out the scoring with three.
The win highlighted the Lady Bulldogs’ depth, balanceand ability to respond quickly after a tough start to the season.
With one win and one loss behind them, Red Boiling Springs now turns its attention to the upcoming Thanksgiving Tournament at Monterey, scheduled for open Wednesday and continue Friday and Saturday. The three-day (over four days) event will give the Lady Bulldogs additional opportunities to build rhythm, develop chemistry, and continue growing under early-season pressure.
