Saturday kicked off the gun portion of deer season for Tennessee hunters.

The season, which traditionally opens the Saturday before Thanksgiving, continues until Jan. 4. According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, approximately 167,980 deer were harvested during the 2024 season, including over 117,000 by gun, 30,000 by muzzleloader and 20,000 by bow.
