Lebanon’s girls wrapped up the Kerry Malone Power Games on Tuesday with a 51-39 win over Rockvale at Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court.
Senior sharp-shooter Tiana Spencer swished seven 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 27 points. She needed 15 to reach 1,000 for her career and did so on a third-quarter triple. She is the 22nd Devilette, including 10 during the 6-on-6 halfcourt era which ended in 1979, to reach 1,000.
Lebanon wasn’t seriously challenged as the Devilettes led 11-6 at the first-quarter break, 29-14 at halftime and 41-24 through three before Rockvale made a late run in the fourth as LHS improved to 10-2.
Naleiya Withrow-Walker sank two triples as she and Carleigh Barrett each scored seven points while Elle Beth McDonald dropped in a pair of 3s for her six. Phoebe Lewis and Tramaria Neal each notched two.
Caydence Thomas tossed in three triples in leading the Lady Rockets with 17 points.
Lebanon will play in the Music City Hoopfest at Page on Monday through Wednesday.
Lady Bears finish fourth at Sparta tournamentSPARTA — Mt. Juliet finished fourth in the Frank’s Shootout on Monday with a 53-49 loss to South Gibson at White County’s Roy Sewell Gymnasium.
The Lady Hornets led 10-7 at the first-quarter break and 28-23 at halftime before Mt. Juliet surged in front 41-40 going into the fourth. South Gibson used a 13-8 fourth to take third place,
Karson Dunn drained three 3-pointers in leading the Lady Hornets with 13 points while Jade Reed racked up 10.
Aaliyah Holman hit two 3-pointers in leading the Lady Bears with 12 points. Claire Emery threw in three triples as she and Addy Osborne each added 11 points. Isabella Craig and Makayla Hopson each had five and McClaine Ringenberg and Marissa Hopson two apiece.
Lady Wildcats win Disney KSA Tournament
ORLANDO, Fla. — Wilson Central won all three games late last week to capture the Disney KSA Christmas Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats clinched the title with a 55-52 win over East Fairmont (W.Va.) last Saturday.
Central led 43-33 going into the fourth quarter before the Bees outscored the Lady Wildcats 19-12. WCHS led 12-10 at the first-quarter break and 28-23 at halftime.
Brylee Fly led the Lady Wildcats with 27 points and 13 rebounds along with four assists. She sank 13 of 17 free throws.
Kylie Moss tossed in two 3-pointers on her way to 13 points while Olivia Kinning finished with five points, Ellie Ramsey four, Kiley Jo Byrom a 3, Alexis Jackson two and Freedom Pfeil a free throw to go with six assists.
Wilson Central pulled away in the fourth quarter to a 53-36 semifinal win over McDowell (Pa.).
The Lady Wildcats led 15-12 at the first-quarter break and 26-23 at halftime. They expanded it to 37-30 through three before closing out the Trojans with a 16-6 fourth.
Fly led the Lady Wildcats with 12 points and five assists while Kylie Moss managed 10 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and five assists. Pfeil and Kinning also finished with 10 points apiece, including a pair of triples for both. Ramsey added eight points and Jackson a 3.
Central opened the tournament with a 52-51 squeaker over Campbellsville (Ky.).
The game was as close throughout as the final as the Eagles led 16-15 at the first-quarter break, trailed 29-28 at halftime and led again 44-42 entering the fourth.
Pfeil finished with 17 points, including four triples, while Fly had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Moss managed 12 points and five steals while Ramsey racked up five points and five assists. Jackson turned in four points.
Wilson Central will play in the Liberty Creek Edmonton State Shootout beginning today and continuing Monday and Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats will face White House at 1 p.m. today following the WCHS boys vs. Christ Presbyterian at 11:30 a.m.
The Lady ‘Cats will face Macon County at 4 p.m. Monday, followed by the boys against Stewarts Creek at 5:30. Both WCHS teams will face host Liberty Creek at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Mt. Juliet’s boys will also play here starting with today’s 7 p.m. nightcap against Liberty Creek, continuing with Monday’s 2:30 p.m. contest with White House and concluding with Tuesday’s 11:30 a.m. battle with CPA.
