An investigation is underway in Mt. Juliet after police responded to a residence on Sunset Drive, behind Kroger, and found a man and infant deceased on Christmas Eve Wednesday.
Police said officers responded after a call from a family member regarding the residence on the northern side of the city. Detectives are in the early stages of a detailed investigation to determine the events leading up to and during the deaths.
MJPD says investigators worked through the night on Christmas Eve to gather information and evidence and that there is no threat to public safety.
“This evening’s tragic discovery weighs heavily on us all, especially during Christmas. Our hearts are with the family affected as we conduct a thorough investigation into what occurred,†MJPD Chief Tyler Chandler said. “We’re in the early stages, and more details will be shared when appropriate. For now, we ask the community to keep this family in your prayers during such a difficult time.â€
A department Chaplain and other support services responded to provide assistance to those impacted by the deaths.
This is a developing story, more information will be reported as it’s made available.
