Scout Loftis drove in four runs, three on a sixth-inning triple, to help lift Lebanon to a season-opening 8-1 win over Stone Memorial on Monday at Brent Foster Field.
Juaquin Rangel drove in a second-inning run with a single. Carter McPeak singled down the left-field line in the third and scored on Loftis’ fielder’s choice. Kasyn Smith doubled to left to knock in another score.
Bryce Johnson pitched the first five innings for the win, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out five. Hunter Grissim struck out the side in his inning of work.
The Blue Devils banged out 10 hits, including three by Evyn Underwood and two by Rangel, who stole three bases.
Lebanon will host Mt. Juliet at Foster Field today.
Barnes drive in winner as Friendship takes opener
Braxton Barnes doubled home the tiebreaking run in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday night as host Friendship Christian opened the baseball season with a 4-3 win over Upperman at John McNeal Stadium.
Barnes had singled in one of three first-inning runs while Garrett Taylor hit a sacrifice fly and Jaxon Pulliam picked up the other RBI. Taylor made the lead stand as he held the Bees to one hit and four walks while striking out eight in four innings.
Upperman rallied with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth off Easton Farrar, who ended up with the win as Eli Moore worked around a hit and a walk in the seventh for the save.
Barnes and Cole Aquila each had two hits as they and Jaxon Pulliam doubled for the Commanders, who were outhit 6-5.
Friendship played without its basketball players with the exception of D. Boone, who was listed as a courtesy runner.
The Commanders were to host Smith County last night at McNeal Stadium.
