Cumberland sits fourth in the 2025-26 Mid-South Conference President’s Cup standings following the completion of the winter championship season, conference officials announced last Thursday.
The Phoenix have totaled 106 points in the year-long all-sports race, trailing the Cumberlands in first at 134 points, Lindsey Wilson in second at 119.5, and Campbellsville in third at 107.5. Georgetown is in fifth place at 85.5 points with Bethel in sixth at 66 and Freed-Hardeman in seventh at 44.5.
Cumberland compiled 52.5 points on the men’s side and 53.5 points on the women’s side, placing fourth in the men’s all-sports standings and third in the women’s all-sports standings.
The winter championship season included men’s and women’s basketball, bowling, cheerleading, indoor track & field, swimming and wrestling.
The Phoenix were powered by dominant performances in bowling, sweeping both the men’s and women’s conference titles to earn the maximum 10 points in each sport. Cumberland’s men’s bowling team posted a 30-4 record, while the women’s team followed with an impressive 31-3 mark.
On the men’s side, Cumberland saw strong finishes across the winter slate, highlighted by a runner-up finish in men’s wrestling (nine points), a third-place showing in cheerleading (eight) with the points falling on the men’s side and a fourth-place finish in men’s indoor track & field (seven).
On the women’s side, Cumberland added 10 points from bowling, six from indoor track and field and four from basketball to help benefit from strong fall performances in soccer (9.5 points), cross country (nine) and volleyball (seven), helping maintain a balanced overall total.
The President’s Cup standings are determined by the top seven men’s and top seven women’s finishes for each institution across conference-sponsored sports. Points are awarded based on regular-season standings or championship finishes, with 10 points awarded to the top team in each sport.
Cumberlands leads both the overall standings and the men’s and women’s all-sports races following the winter season. Lindsey Wilson sits second in both categories.
Cumberland will look to make a strong push in the final standings as the spring sports season have gotten under way.
