The Mt. Juliet Police Department investigated a shooting at the 700 block of Parrish Place and reported the incident was the result of a self-inflicted gunshot which ended in an individual’s death.
MJPD reported shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10, that it responded to the area, and within minutes, police said the incident was confined to a single residence, before finally reporting the tragic end.
“Our thoughts are with the individual’s family, friends and all who are impacted,†MJPD said on social media. “If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. Call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.â€
The updates were shared via the MJAlert text and email service, as well as posted to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is a 24/7 service anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts can call. After calling 988, pressing 0 will connect a caller to a trained counselor. An online chat is also available at .
Additionally, there are 12 crisis walk-in centers and crisis stabilization units in Tennessee.
