The Macon County Tigers soccer team has made history this spring, wrapping up its most successful regular season ever under the leadership of Head Coach Nick Hill.
With a final record of 9-5-2 overall and 2-2 in District 9-3A play, the Tigers have shown steady growth and resilience throughout the season.
On April 29, the Tigers took a road trip to Goodpasture Christian School in Madison and returned home with a well-earned 3-1 victory. Junior standouts Eric Caratachea and Fernando Lopez each found the back of the net, while senior Roberto Romero added another goal to cap off a solid offensive performance. Goodpasture’s lone goal came courtesy of junior Allen Gore, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Macon County’s determined attack and organized defense.
Just two days later, on May 1, the Tigers hosted the Wilson Central Wildcats in their final regular-season match.
Despite the momentum from their previous win, Macon County fell short, losing 5-1 to a sharp-shooting Wildcats squad. While the loss was a setback, it did little to dampen the Tigers’ spirits after a season filled with milestones and team-first moments.
Now, Macon County turned its focus to the postseason. The Tigers were to face the Portland Panthers in the opening round of the District 9-3A tournament Monday.
