George Johnson, 84, of Lebanon, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Monday, May 12, 2025.
Funeral service, conducted by Bro. Gordon Lee and Bro. Drew Eastes, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Foster, Colton Gross, Garrett Chaney and Dennis Foster.
Honorary pallbearers will be Woody Hunt, Bobby Thompson, Jackie Bly, Bill McNutt and Joel Burnley.
George Wilson Johnson was born in Hartsville, Tennessee, to Tiny Gammons Johnson and Lester Johnson.
He was a lifelong sports fan with a special love for baseball. The Cumberland Baseball program was discontinued, George re-started the baseball team in 1964 as benefactor, driver and shortstop. George also built his exterior home improvement business which he owned and operated for many years. He and his family attended the Ministry Worship Center in Lebanon.
Mr. Johnson, “G-Pa†is survived by his wife, Naomi “G-Ma†Foster Johnson; son, Brett (Angie) Johnson; grandchildren, Levi Johnson and Lexi Hibdon; great-granddaughter, Della Hibdon; siblings, Velma Calhoun and Billy Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tiny “Nanny†Johnson and Lester “Pa†Johnson; and siblings, Thomas Johnson and Earnest Johnson.
