Two Nashville men were arrested by Mt. Juliet Police after a traffic stop led to the discovery of weapons and narcotics Monday afternoon.
According to MJPD, on March 23, an officer observed a vehicle on Interstate-40 failing to maintain its lane and “driving careless.†A traffic stop was initiated, during which the officer said he noticed “marijuana residue†on the driver’s shirt.
The driver, Ronrico Dyer, 29, allegedly resisted arrest before fleeing into Interstate traffic. However, police said he walked back toward his vehicle where officers deployed a taser, bringing him into custody.
MJPD said a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately two pounds of marijuana, one-half of an ounce of crack cocaine, two grams of fentanyl and three firearms—a Micro Draco, a Romanian AK-stylized pistol chambered in 7.62; a .40 caliber Glock 23 Gen 4; and a Taurus TX 22.
Dyer was charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a Schedule VI drug for resale and two counts of simple drug possession. He was booked into the Wilson County Jail and later released on a $22,000 bond.
The passenger, Caleb Beasley, 27, was also arrested with possession of marijuana for resale as well as an outstanding warrant out of Smyrna for failure to appear.
“We are grateful for the proactive work of our officers, who remain committed to keeping MJ safe,†an MJPD spokesperson said.
