Mt. Juliet Police were busy with multiple arrests in the week leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, officers arrested a Smyrna man after he was observed allegedly parking in a handicap spot unlawfully at Ross. According to reports, the driver, Jamar Wade, 28, had two active warrants from Smyrna for failure to appear on charges related to driving on a suspended license and drug possession.
Then on Friday, Nov. 21, a traffic stop for an illegal window tint on Golden Bear Gateway led to the arrest of Darius Hogue, 30, of Nashville, who had an active probation violation warrant out of Rutherford County. During the stop, it was found Hogue was allegedly driving on an indefinitely suspended license as well.
Hours later, a man wanted for more than five years was arrested after MJPD pulled a vehicle over for an improperly displayed license plate. Patrick Forsythe, 54, of Nashville, had an active warrant from Wilson County for probation violation. Forsythe was recently arrested in Cheatham County for domestic assault involving a vehicle passenger, but was out on bond and in violation of a no-contact order relating to that incident.
Saturday, Nov. 22, a Hyundai Santa Fe, reported stolen out of Carter County earlier this month, was spotted by license plate readers. MJPD found the vehicle at Lowe’s, and Brent Shaver, 37, of Elizabethton was taken into custody. He was wanted out of Carter County since August for probation violation related to a drug charge and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and driving on an indefinitely revoked license.
Then during the overnight hours leading into Sunday, Nov. 23, another handicap parking spot violation led to the arrest of a woman wanted since 2021 at the Mapco near I-40. Tameka Fears, 41, of Atlanta was wanted in Alabama on a felony theft warrant. She is being held in the Wilson County Jail awaiting extradition.
Sunday afternoon, an officer pulled a vehicle over after it was observed allegedly leaving the Lowe’s parking lot at a high rate of speed, continuing at that pace onto Pleasant Grove Road. During the stop, the passenger, James Vandivort, 35, of Lebanon, reportedly fled from the vehicle on foot.
After a brief foot pursuit, police apprehended Vandivort. MJPD says he allegedly had just stolen items from the Lowe’s. Additionally, he had multiple outstanding warrants from three other agencies.
In Hickman County, he was wanted for aggravated domestic assault, domestic assault, vandalism, interference with 911 calls and failure to appear. In Dickson County, he had warrants for felony and misdemeanor evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, criminal impersonation and reckless driving. Fairview Police also had a warrant on Vandivort for probation violation. Now he faces another evading arrest and theft charge for the stop in Mt. Juliet.
Later on during the evening hours on Sunday, an improperly displayed license plate led to the arrest of two individuals, one of whom initially lied about their identity to police. As MJPD attempted the traffic stop on Golden Bear Gateway, the driver tried to flee, but other officers intercepted the vehicle to box it in as it entered I-40.
The driver, Doneka Claybrooks, 38, of Kingston Springs, was reportedly driving on an indefinitely suspended license. The passenger, Victor Summers, 40, of Nashville, allegedly lied about his identity to officers after the stop. He was wanted in Wilson County for probation violation related to evading arrest and failure to be booked. Allegedly, both were in possession of ecstasy.
Then during the overnight hours leading into Monday morning, Nov. 24, a vehicle was stopped after a traffic light violation was observed. Officers learned the driver, Carleigh Woods, 21, of Murfreesboro, was wanted out of Williamson County for selling cocaine. She was also reportedly driving on an indefinitely suspended license. She was arrested and transferred to Williamson County authorities.
Then finally, on Wednesday, Nov. 26, MJPD pulled a vehicle over for an expired license plate, but two individuals ended up being arrested who were wanted out of other counties.
The owner of the vehicle, Presley De Groff, 30, of Hermitage, was wanted out of Rutherford County on theft charges. The passenger, Briana Mason, 31, of Hermitage, was wanted out of Sumner County for probation violation. Both were arrested and transferred to the respective authorities.
