A brief foot chase led to the arrest of a man after Mt. Juliet Police investigated an unattended vehicle at a Kroger.
According to police, on Saturday, May 10, an MJPD officer noticed an unattended vehicle, which, according to reports, had been left running for more than an hour at the Kroger in the Providence Marketplace.
While investigating, police discovered the vehicle had a false license plate and had been unregistered for more than a year and a half.
When the vehicle’s occupant returned, police attempted to ask him about the license plate, but the man immediately fled on foot.
MJPD officers pursued the man, identified as 23-year-old Luis-Alejandro Lopez-Estrada, of Antioch, from the Kroger across Providence Parkway. The chase ended near Jonathan’s Grill, where officers apprehended Lopez-Estrada.
He is facing multiple charges, including evading arrest, resisting arrest, driving without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia and is being held on a $2,000 bond.
